Be a Hylander

What makes Highland unique?

At Highland Elementary, we are committed to developing the whole child - creatively, culturally, socially and academically. We create college and career-ready graduates beginning in pre-kindergarten. We help all of our students reach their potential as they develop critical thinking, collaboration, communication and creative skills to succeed.

We are proud to be Hylanders and know your students will be too!

AVID | Our third through fifth-graders will learn AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) strategies to improve critical thinking, reading and writing abilities, and build a culture of college and career readiness.

Diversity | We celebrate our cultures by learning from one another in and out of the classroom.

English Language Learners | All of our bilingual students receive specialized support.

Personalized Learning Initiative | Our first through fifth-graders will have one-on-one devices to integrate technology throughout the classroom.

Gifted and Talented | Our specialized programming that brings out the very best in selected students.

Responsive Classroom | We use a national model that develops safe, challenging and joyful learning environments.

Science | Our young scientists experience Earth, planets and the solar system in the StarLab.

Technology | Your child will practice 21st-century skills using iPads, iPods, laptops and more.

Get Involved

We believe the best way to educate our students is to have families, the community and staff collaborating together. As parents, you can help not only your students, but our entire school by getting involved in our PTO. Take advantage of REACH, free evening classes providing tips for parents to help their students prepare early for college and careers. We also have a great parents volunteering group. Call today and ask how you can help Highland Elementary create college and career ready graduates.
